| biography:
| Physicist, born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He studied at Purdue and Harvard universities, and moved to the Institute of Theoretical Physics in Copenhagen (now the Neils Bohr Institute) on a travelling fellowship, where he worked with Aage Bohr on models of the atomic nuclei. They secured experimental evidence in support of Leo James Rainwater's collective model of the atomic nucleus, and all three shared the 1975 Nobel Prize for Physics. |
