| Anthropologist, born in Tipperary, SC Ireland. She was commissioned by The Times to investigate the condition of Aborigines, and from 1899 spent most of her life in the N and W of Australia. She made detailed notes of Aboriginal life and customs, and worked for Aboriginal welfare, setting up camps for the aged. |
