| biography:
| Graphic artist and painter, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. She studied at the Philadelphia Museum College of Art (1964–8), and was based in New York City. Appointed a staff artist for the Peabody Museum at Yale University (1970–2), she became known for her illustrations and wood and linoleum block bookcovers for such writers as Dostoyevsky, Virginia Woolf, Thomas Mann, Robertson Davies, and Alice Walker. Her fine art, as in Summer Fruit (1990), has also gained recognition. |
