| Condottiere, born in Rocca d'Alviano, Umbria, C Italy. In the service of Venice from 1497, he defeated Emperor Maximilian (1508) and was taken prisoner by the League of Cambrai's army at Agnadello (1509). He was freed in 1513 and helped Francis I to defeat the Swiss at Marignano in 1515. |
