| Political writer, born in West Brunswick, Melbourne, Victoria, NE Australia. He studied law at Melbourne University, became involved with several Catholic organizations, and served as president of the Catholic Social Movement (1943), director of Catholic Action (1947), and president of the National Civic Council (1957). He was a leading force against Communist influence in Australia, and in the establishment of the Democratic Labor Party. His writings include The Price of Freedom (1964) and The Defence of Australia (1970). |
