| Physicist, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He taught at the University of Pennsylvania (1963–6), then became a physicist at RCA Laboratories, New Jersey (1966–70) before joining the National Bureau of Standards (1970). He made key advances in precision measurements and fundamental constants, absolute electrical measurements, and superconductivity. |
