| British judge. He studied at Cambridge, was called to the bar in 1954, and became a QC (1967), a High Court judge (1980–7), a Lord Justice of Appeal (1987–92), and Lord Chief Justice of England (1992–6). In 1989 he was chairman of the Hillsborough football stadium Disaster Inquiry leading to the Taylor Report. He was knighted in 1980, and made a life peer in 1992. |
