| Surgeon, born in Malta. He held various posts at the Leeds General Infirmary, specializing in abdominal, gastric, and pancreatic operations, and became professor at Leeds in 1909. The driving impulse of his life was the promotion of scientific surgery, and he set out his doctrine in his Abdominal Operations (1905). He formed the Moynihan Chirurgical Club, was active in starting the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, and was also a leader of the movement to found the British Journal of Surgery. |
