| Surgeon, born in Pierre Buffière, C France. From 1812 he was professor of clinical surgery in Paris, and surgeon to Louis XVIII and Charles X. He invented many surgical instruments, and devised surgical techniques for many conditions, including Dupuytren's contracture (a flexion deformity of the hand). |
