| British judge. He studied at Cambridge, and was called to the bar in 1946, practising mainly in commercial cases. He became a judge in 1966, a Lord Justice of Appeal (1979–82), and Master of the Rolls (1982–92). He was knighted in1986, and created a life peer in 1988. |
