| Philanthropist, born in Llandinam, Powys, E Wales, UK. He was a major benefactor of the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, and the National Library of Wales. A Liberal MP for Montgomeryshire (1906–29) and close associate of Lloyd-George, after World War 1 he turned his attention to support for the League of Nations. In 1933 he founded the New Commonwealth Society. |
