| biography:
| Civil engineer, architect, and suffragist, born in Basingstoke, Hampshire, S England, UK. The daughter of Harriet Stanton Blatch and granddaughter of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, she moved to New York City as a girl. The first female civil engineering graduate from Cornell University, she began to design and build houses (1914), and after 1923 became a prominent developer of exclusive houses in suburban Connecticut. She led the fight in New York State for women's suffrage and was a lifelong activist on behalf of feminism and peace. |
