| Painter and lithographer, born in London, UK. He trained at the Royal College of Art. A pioneer in the revival of colour lithography, he designed posters, book illustrations, and book covers. He was visiting instructor at the Royal College of Art from 1928, and at the Ruskin School, Oxford. He worked for London Transport, Shell-Mex, BP Ltd, the BBC, and the General Post Office. In 1935 his design was selected for the George V jubilee stamp, and in 1940 he was appointed official war artist to the Admiralty. |
