| Christian missionary, originally a Levite from Cyprus called Joseph (Acts 4.36). He was a companion and supporter of Paul during Paul's early ministry to the Gentiles, but later separated from him after a dispute over John Mark (Acts 15.36) and went to Cyprus. The so-called Letter of Barnabas is a spurious 2nd-c work. |
