| Table tennis player, born in Budapest, Hungary. He won a record 20 English titles between 1931 and 1953, including five singles titles (1933–5, 1937–8), and also won 15 world titles, including five singles (1930, 1932–5). One of the game's greatest players, he emigrated to France before becoming a British citizen in 1938. After retirement, he played exhibitions and formed the Swaythling Club, a social club for ex-table tennis internationals. |
