| Journalist and novelist, born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, N England, UK. She joined the Yorkshire Evening Post as reporter (1949–51) and women's editor (1951–3), became fashion editor of Woman's Own (1953–4), a columnist on The London Evening News (1955–7), and executive editor of The London American (1959–62). Moving to the USA, she worked as a columnist for leading newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune/New York Daily News Syndicate (1970–5) and the Los Angeles Times Syndicate (1975–81). She gained success with her first novel, Woman of Substance (1980), and later books include Hold the Dream (1985), The Women in his Life (1990), Her Own Rules (1996), and Where You Belong (2000). |
