| Sociologist and writer, born in Butte, Montana, USA. An independent writer, she became known for her outspoken feminist–socialist analyses of contemporary issues, particularly health and the politics of sex and class. Her books include For Her Own Good (co-authored, 1978) and The Worst Years of Our Lives (1990). In 1983 she became co-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America. |
