| Indo-Chinese ruler, born in Hué, EC Vietnam, the son of Emperor Khai Dai. He ruled as Emperor of Annam (1932–45), then in 1949, having renounced his hereditary title, returned to Saigon as chief of the State of Vietnam within the French Union. In 1955 he was deposed and South Vietnam became a republic. |
