| Philosopher and theologian, born in Baconsthorpe, Norfolk, E England, UK, the grandnephew of Roger Bacon. A Carmelite by training, he taught at Cambridge, and wrote commentaries on the Arab philosopher Averroës. He anticipated Wycliffe's teaching that priests should be subordinate to kings. |
