| Theatre producer, born in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. He began his career as a journalist, but soon moved to the theatre. As a Broadway producer, he was most interested in encouraging new talent. He did so with the Barrymores: John in Richard III (1920), Lionel in Macbeth (1921), and Ethel in Romeo and Juliet (1922). His successes ranged from The Poor Little Rich Girl (1913) to The Magnificent Yankee (1946). |
