| Rabbi and educator, born in Paterson, New Jersey, USA. He studied at Brandeis University and earned a PhD there in 1975. He taught religious studies at the University of Pennsylvania (1973–84) and was named dean of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 1984. |
