| biography:
| Political scientist, born in Freeport, Illinois,USA. While employed as a journalist in Chicago, he wrote The Process of Government (1908), describing how ‘pressure groups’ influence all governments. Although he wrote several important books, including, Relativity in Man and Society (1926), Knowing and the Known (1949, with John Dewey), and Makers, Users, and Masters (posthumously, 1969), his controversial, often critical views of American government prevented his acceptance by mainstream academia. |
