| Engineer and educator, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. He worked on drainage flood protection projects (1905–1920s), and was chairman of the Tennessee Valley Authority (1933–8). He became president of Antioch College (1920) and initiated the Antioch Plan of work-study. |
