| biography:
| Roman general and official, consul in 13 BC. As Governor of Syria he suppressed the revolt of Judaea (4 BC), and in AD 9 was sent by Augustus to command in Germany. He led three legions into a trap set by Arminius, and killed himself after his troops were totally routed. |
