| Composer, born in Fusignano, N Italy. From c.1675 he lived in Rome, where he was in great demand as a violinist, spending the last 22 years of his life in the service of Cardinal Ottoboni. His Concerti grossi, and his solo and trio sonatas for violin, mark an epoch in chamber music, and greatly influenced a whole generation of composers. |
