| Greek philosopher and seer, born in Tyana, Cappadocia. A zealous neo-Pythagorean teacher, he was hailed as a sage and a worker of miracles. He was worshipped after his death, and a century later Philostratus wrote a largely apocryphal history presenting him as a sort of heathen rival to Christ. |
