| biography:
| Film director, born in Lasarte, Guipúzcoa, N Spain. He studied law then turned to film direction at the Escuela Oficial de Cinematografía (1962). He made his debut as a producer of full-length films with Se necesita chico (1953). An Emmy award for La cabina (1972), whose script was written by José Luis Garci, led him to alternate between television and films. His most successful film was La guerra de papá (1977), based on a novel by Miguel Delibes. Of some note amongst the rest of his irregular production are his drama La estación (1982) and the comedy Esperame en el cielo (1987). |
