| biography:
| Galician historian, archaeologist, and historian, born in Santiago de Compostela, NW Spain. He founded and edited the magazine Galicia Histórica and published about 50 monographs on aspects of Galician historiography, the most important of which is Fueros municipales de Santiago y de su tierra. His major work is Historia de la Santa A M Iglesia de Santiago de Compostela (11 vols, 1898–1910), which provides fundamental data for Galician history far more extensive than are suggested by the title. His novels in Galician are A tecedeira de Bonaval (1894), O cartelo de Pambre (1895), and O niño de pombas (1905). |
