| biography:
| Catalan historian and literary critic, born in Valladolid, NWC Spain, the son of the Catalan poet, Joaquim Rubió i Ors. A pupil of Milá i Fontanals, whom he succeeded at Barcelona University, and fellow student of Marcelino Menéndez y Pelayo, he taught Catalan literature at the Institut d'Estudis Universitaris Catalans in Barcelona and edited its publications. His chief works are on the history of Catalan culture in Catalunya and overseas: La expedición y dominación de los catalanes en Oriente juzgadas por los griegos (1883), Documents per l'història de la cultura catalana mig-eval (2 vols, 1908–21), La cultura catalana en el regnat de Pere III (1917), and Joan I humanista i el primer periode de l'humanisme català (1919). |
