| biography:
| Suriname nationalist, born in Paramaribo, Suriname. After mixing in left-wing circles, and with Mohammed Hatta in Amsterdam in the 1920s, he returned to Suriname in 1933, where he was arrested for his nationalist activities and returned to The Netherlands. He was in the resistance during the war, was arrested in August 1944, and died in Neuengamme. |
