| biography:
| Aircraft engineer, born in Kediri, Java. He built his first plane in 1911, and in 1913 founded the Fokker aircraft factory at Schwerin, Germany, which made warplanes for the German air force in World War 1. After the war he set up a factory in The Netherlands, and later operated also in Britain and the USA, where he became a US citizen. |
