| The only daughter of the Elector Maurice of Saxony. She became the second wife of William I (the Silent) of Orange. She was notorious for her loose living, and fled to Cologne in 1567, where she was arrested for adultery with the father of Peter Paul Rubens. In 1571 she was divorced, and died insane in 1577. She was the mother of Maurice, Prince of Orange and Stadtholder, and Anne, who married William Louis, Stadtholder of Friesland. |
