| Dutch liberal politician, born in Hengelo, E Netherlands. A member of Bolsward Municipal Council 1976–89, she entered parliament in 1982 for the Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie (VVD) and in 1994 became minister of transport and waterways. The flood barrier on the Nieuwe Waterweg was finished in 1997, while she was in office. |
