| Painter, born in Paris, France. Elected to the Académie in 1770, she painted mainly still-lifes and flowers, athough some of her portraits and genre paintings still exist. Chief painter at the queen's court (1769–87), her reputation as a still-life artist rivalled that of Chardin and Oudry. Her works include ‘Deux coqs morts’ (1785). |
