| biography:
| Poet, born in Paris, France, the daughter of a Romanian prince. She became a leading literary figure in France in the pre-World War 1 period. Her volumes of poems, Le Coeur innombrable (1901), Les Eblouissements (1907), L'Honneur de souffrir (1927), and Poème de l'Amour (1929), remain faithful to classical, Romantic, and Parnassian poetry, and reveal a sensuous love of nature. She also wrote novels, including La nouvelle Espérance (1903) and Le Visage Émerveillé (1904). On her tomb at the Père la Chaise cemetery is the inscription, ‘Je reste avec vous’. |
