| Writer, born in Alkmaar, W Netherlands. A Protestant governess, she wrote historical novels inspired by the works of Sir Walter Scott, and was a member of the group around the magazine De Gids. The descriptions of the characters in her books reveal a psychological awareness. First engaged to Bakhuizen van den Brink, she later married the painter Johannes Bosboom in 1851. |
