| Poet and novelist, born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. A psychologist and pianist, she made a successful literary debut in 1991with the collection of poems Soldatenliederen (Soldiers' Songs). In her poetry she evokes powerful images to discuss subjects such as loss, death, and the inevitable passing of time. Musical motives and references play an important part in her work. In 1994 she published her first novel Het meesterstuk (The Masterpiece) which met with considerably less acclaim than her poetry. |
