| Flemish poet, born in Antwerp, N Belgium. A Catholic teacher in Antwerp, her poetry agitated passionately against the Reformation and, in particular, Luther. Other works include criticism of the Catholic Church, and secular, amorous poems. Her poems are written in the tradition of the rederijkers, and are considered to be some of the best examples of Catholic poetry during the first half of the 16th-c. |
