| Writer, born in Utrecht, W Netherlands. She began her literary career as a journalist with strong ties to the feminist movement of the 1970s. In 1976 she caused a stir with De schaamte voorbij (The Shame is Over. A Political Life Story) in which she describes her development from traditional housewife and mother to militant lesbian feminist. The book was reprinted many times and translated into several languages. In addition to autobiographical prose, she published theoretical works including the manifesto Feminisme en socialisme (1975, Feminism and Socialism). |
