| Politician and writer, born in Castelnuovo Calcea, Piedmont, N Italy. He was arrested in 1831 for his patriotic activities, became a deputy of the left and one of its most influential members in the Piedmontese parliament (1848), and was opposed to Cavour. His works include I miei tempi (1857–64) and Storia del parlamento subalpino (1865–70). |
