Educated in Barcelona, he is regarded as the greatest Catalan dramatist, and a major influence in the Renaixensa movement to revive Catalan literature. His most famous play is Terra Baixa (1896, trans Martha of the Lowlands), on which D'Albert based his opera Tiefland. |
