| biography:
| Rugby union player, born in Edinburgh, EC Scotland, UK. He studied at George Heriot's School and Glasgow University, and his club rugby was played with Heriot's Former Pupils. An outstanding fullback, he won 51 caps for Scotland (1972–82), scored more points in South Africa than any touring Lion had previously done, and was the first player in the world to score more than 300 points in international rugby. He toured with the Lions in 1974, 1977, and 1980. |
