| Actor, born in Aberdeen, NE Scotland, UK. Educated at Aberdeen Grammar School, he was intended for a career in civil engineering, but found his way into provincial repertory theatres instead. He reached the London stage in 1935, where he took part in several long-running plays. He became known worldwide for his portrayal of Dr Cameron in the BBC television series Dr Finlay's Casebook. |
