| Catalan soldier, lyric poet, and translator, born in Vich, Catalunya, NE Spain. His love poetry, perhaps the finest of his age after that of Jordi de Sant Jordi, was influenced by Arnaut Daniel, Cerverí, and Dante. Febrer's Poesías (ed M de Riquer, Barcelona, 1951) also include the ‘Sirventesch per lo passatge de Berberia’, on a storm that threatened the king's fleet on the way to the Barbary Coast. Later in his life, he turned to translation, and his La Comedia de Dant Allighier (ed C Vidal y Valenciano, Barcelona, 1878) was both popular and influential in its day. |
