| biography:
| Novelist and poet, born in The Hague, W Netherlands. A professor of criminology, she made her debut in 1965 with Een tevreden glimlach (A Satisfied Smile) which describes the development of her main character struggling with the inner self and the acceptance of (homo)sexuality. In De huilende libertijn (1970, The Crying Libertine) these themes are complemented with that of female emancipation, and female liberation from the traditional role. She is also a respected essayist and lecturer. |
