| Writer, born in Breslau, Germany (now Wrocław, SW Poland). He studied philosophy with Heidegger, among others, and in 1950 emigrated to Vienna. His writings include the anti-Fascist novel Die molassische Katakombe (published 1992), as well as various forms of criticism, including Die Antiquiertheit des Menschen (2 vols, 1956, 1980). He was also an anti-nuclear activist and opponent of the Vietnam War. |
