| Sociologist, born in Cologne, W Germany. Raised in Palestine, he emigrated to the USA in 1957. He taught at Columbia (1958–80), then at George Washington University, and wrote prolifically for both scholarly and popular audiences, often on organizational analysis. His books include A Comparative Analysis of Complex Organizations (1961) and The Moral Dimension (1988). |
