| biography:
| King of Germany and Holy Roman Emperor, the son of Henry III, Count of Luxemburg. He became King of Germany in 1308 with the support of the German princes. Called to re-establish order among Italian political factions, he crossed the Alps in 1311 and clashed with Robert of Anjou's Guelph troops. In 1312 he was crowned emperor in Rome, but died from malaria soon after. |
