| Composer, born in Collbató, Catalonia, NE Spain. He studied under Felipe Pedrell, and performed his first work, Artus, in Barcelona. He collaborated with Lluis Millet in the foundation of the Orfeó Català, for which he wrote several works including Els tres tambors and L'emigrant. In Madrid his performances of the zarzuelas, Don Lucas del Cigarral, Bohemios, Maruxa, and Doña Francisquita, were very successful. He composed epigrammatic songs on classical Castilian texts (1912–14), and from 1924 wrote new pieces for the Orfeó (La balanguera). His final works were Nausica and La fi de Serrallonga. |
