| Composer, born in Vizovice, E Czech Republic. He studied in Prague, Vienna, and Berlin, and was made professor at Prague Conservatory in 1924. He composed prolifically, and showed interest in the division of the scale into quarter-tones. His works include an opera, The Mother, and orchestral, chamber, and piano music. |
